Catherine Bohrman
Artist’s Statement:
The sculptor’s challenge is discovering and exploring physical space within a form. I strive to make my work beautiful, romantic and sensual to the eye. In life I’ve found it interesting how a chance meeting, fleeting vision or moment in a day can affect ones life and work so deeply.
“Catherine Bohrman’s compact abstractions in alabaster, bronze and marble possess soft edges that belie the magnitude of their density,” says Allen Hoffman, Legislative Liaison and Senior Program Associate for the Connecticut Commission on the Arts.
Catherine’s studio is in the Adams/Morgan area of Washington, DC. She grew up in the northeast and was educated at Stanford University in California majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She initially worked in the foreign manufacturing/design division of Mattel Toys in California until she moved back east and was introduced to stone sculpting in 1980. In 2000 she switched her medium to bronze and aluminum.
