As winter settles on Washington seventeen of the area’s most expressive artists celebrate the cold and seek relief by coming in from it. The works in this juried show range from the abstract suggestivism of Judith Baldinger’s “…can spring be…?” to the equally austere realism of Barbara Stepura’s early-light watercolor. From the exuberance of Natalya Parris to the severity of Richard Hall’s photography. From Ito Briones’ unsettling portrait to the naif humor of David Terrar’s “Chew Mail Pouch.” Irish painter Brian Whelan’s “Adoration of the Magi” completes the exhibition by connecting it to seasonal ritual; and to all a good night.
