Naomi Taitz Duffy’s paintings explore shapes that recur continuously throughout nature – the movement of fish in water, the pattern of fallen leaves on the street, the splitting of cells at the first moments of conception. The spaces where forms and lines intersect are given special attention, as are shifts in color, both subtle and bold. With layers of color, intricate lines, evolving patterns, and occasional images of birds in flight, there is much to linger on.
Duffy received her BFA from Washington University in St. Louis, and studied painting, drawing and printmaking at the Art Student’s League in New York. She now lives in Washington, DC.
