There is an inescapable beauty and mystery in the natural and the man-made that surrounds us, and an infinite amount of ways one can creatively interpret it. I work mostly from observation, adding memory and imagination when needed. Constantly fascinated by the power of mark making, brushstroke application and color relationships, it is not so much about the subject I choose as about the way in which I apply my interpretation onto the canvas. Always starting with a seed of an idea and some loose sketching, I then allow my concept to unravel through process, avoiding too many pre-conceived decisions.
