Now Accepting Submissions for Artists Seeking Membership

Foundry Gallery, Washington, DC’s oldest non-profit artists’ cooperative, holds monthly solo and members shows from a lively community of artists. The gallery offers Washington area residents and visitors original, high quality, affordable, art. Members share the rights and responsibilities of running the gallery and are eligible to hold executive positions. The gallery also employs a director to assist with marketing and promotion efforts as well as facilitate collector relationships and art sales.


Membership Benefits:

  • Coordinated press and publicity for gallery exhibits

  • Solo shows regularly reviewed in the media

  • Internet presence — each artist has a page of images on the gallery website with a link to his/her personal website

  • Unframed work in bins

  • Artist profiles promoted via gallery’s social media and email list

  • 70% of sales retained by the artist/ 30% to the gallery

  • Gallery space available for artist use to host events or classes

  • No gallery staffing requirements


MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

  • Solo show once every 16-24 months

    • Work in monthly members shows

    • Artist info and images on website

    • Attend at least 4 meetings a year

    • Serve on a committee or volunteer position

    • Up to 8 pieces in bin

    • Votes on gallery decisions

    • Minimum two years commitment

    • Work in monthly members shows

    • At discretion of the gallery

    • Two artists share one full membership

APPLIATION PROCESS

  • Submissions must be sent via email to membership@foundrygallery.org 

  • Send between 5-10 images in jpeg format of the work you intend to exhibit in the gallery

  • Image list to include: Title, Size, Medium, Year Completed

  • Artist’s statement, Resume or Letter to the Membership Committee.

Artists whose work appears promising will be invited to bring 4 or 5 pieces to the gallery to be viewed in person. Applicants will then be juried into Foundry Gallery by a two-thirds vote of the members.
